1. As a writer, saying random crap (and receiving unnecessary attention) is...
Normal...

In class...
MICHELLE: (reading a handout) So Jane Seymour was the third wife of Henry VIII.
ME: Mmm... (Thinking to self) But then how could a male character be that good-looking after the gun fight...? It wouldn't make sense unless--
MICHELLE: (Taps me) Hey? Do you get this?
ME: (slams right hand onto desk) Of course!
MICHELLE: Huh?
ME: (Looks up with a euphoric expression) He must be metro-sexual!
MICHELLE: (Glancing at the other staring people) Er...

2. As a writer, asking weird questions is...
A part of life...

In 'James An'*, Maths class...
ME: (sitting at a desk in the front row, thinking to self) Hmmm... So he's gotta be stylish and stuff but... I don't know what guys find stylish... Hmmm... (Gazing ahead) Grr... What do I do...?
{TEACHER}: Are you finished?
ME: (Nodding slowly, still thinking to self) ... Sir's actually pretty stylish. (to the teacher) Hey Sir?
{TEACHER}: Yeah?
ME: I love your clothes. Where did you get them?
{TEACHER}: Err...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. As a writer, seeking out strange information is...
Essential...
In the library...
ME: (browsing through the maternity section, thinking to self) Hmmm... I should find out how Elenaia would feel when she's giving birth to their kid... Hey! (Removes book from shelf)
{LIBRARIAN}: (walking past) ... (Sees me and stops) Excuse me...?
ME: (obliviously looking through the book) Yeesh... That's scary...
{LIBRARIAN}: ... Are you alright?
ME: Me? Oh, yeah. I'm fine.
{LIBRARIAN}: Ah... Of... Course... Er... (Continues walking)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But best of all...
4. As a writer, at least you get to know your woes...
Are always worthwhile!

ME: (Opens the front door) I'm back... (Collapses on door mat)
{MY MUSE}: Eeeee! You got so much stuff for me to work from!
ME: (still on the ground) Y-You seriously owe me...
{MY MUSE}: (Rummaging through books) Mm... This one looks really good...
ME: (silently lying down, eyes drooping) Gr...
{MY MUSE}: Thanks! Well, HERE! (Runs out of the room)
ME: Uh...? (Eyes widen) Oh my God! I got an idea!

Writer's block
The pencil lies idly next to the notebook.
The icon on the computer screen blinks almost in a mocking fashion, the keys gathering dust.
That notebook is opened to a fresh page, not a letter or eraser shaving on it.
That computer is opened up to a new document, again, no words on it, not even the use of undo or redo as a sign that maybe something was once there.
And there's not a damn thing I can do about it.
I can think of few things in this world that are as frustrating.

Reading
Why do you like it?
It's such a simple question, yet she finds it hard to answer.
Does she like reading because it's in some way forbidden? She must read fashion magazines, yes, but real books? Of course not!
Does she like it because it's somehow an escape? Is it the fact that she lets her tea go cold because she's a million miles away, chasing a world that does not exist? The fact that, when she has to tear herself away, she's afraid that the story will continue on without her?
Does she like the fact that it's a distraction? How trivial do mere bruises seem when soldiers are being struck down in battle? What are a few harsh words, when

The Writer and His Muse
The Writer lay quietly in his bed. Rest was hard to come by. Vivid images filled his mind, ideas which blinked and twirled in the darkness before fading away, never to be seen again. As always, in the beginning he could control them, but they spiraled out of his grasp and took on lives of their own. He no longer had any say. They simply went where they intended and created their own paths. Slowly he drifted off amidst the stories being told around him. The images slowed, sleep was coming. Soon he was unconscious.
A sharp kick to the stomach woke him up. He grunted and clutched his gut.
“Come on, come on, get up. It is time.”

---Explanatory notes---
Here, I am going to explain a couple of things. Some of them may be obvious but I am explaining them just in case:
*: James An is a well-known coaching college in Australia
About section 4, the muse is traditionally and still known as the source of inspiration (as I understand it) for an writer or artist.
If there is anything else that is unclear, please comment on it below.
.................................................................................................
This was inspired by 's funny comic strips "Like and Asian" [link] and "Like and Artist" [link] . Of course, it is not as funny but yeah.
I also used this for the "What Writing Means to You" contest run by and was placed 3rd (Yay! ^_*)
These are just some of my personal experiences of being a training writer so they may not apply everyone. However, if there are ways of halting such embarrassing events, I will definitely hear you out.
All events are real except people's names were altered. The only things are that I do not have a character called Elenaia and none of my characters have ended up in a gun fight so far.
Thank you for reading this.
I hope you enjoyed it. ^_*
